Additional security measures for the 2018 FIFA World Cup were discussed at a meeting of the National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) chaired by Alexander Bortnikov, chairman of the NAC and director of the Federal Security Service (FSB).

"During the meeting, we examined our results and developed additional measures to improve the activities of the regional antiterrorism commissions in the Central Federal District, including antiterrorism security at the facilities which will host the 2018 World Cup," RIA Novosti reports citing a message from the NAC's information center.

The World Cup will take place on June 14 — July 15 in 11 Russian cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod and Ekaterinburg.
