Volgograd Region Governor Andrei Bocharov has announced that 2018 FIFA World Cup match days will be days-off in the region, according to the Governor's press service.
The authorities think that the decision will give local residents the chance to take part in the activities to be held in the Volgograd Region. This means June 18, 22, 25 and 28 will be days-off.
The tradition of providing days-off during important events has proved beneficial in the region. This year, February 2, the day marking the 75th anniversary of victory in the Battle of Stalingrad, was made a day-off.
Volgograd will host four group stage matches of the 2018 World Cup: Tunisia vs. England, Nigeria vs. Iceland, Saudi Arabia vs. Egypt and Japan vs. Poland.
