Young people in the Rostov Region show unprecedented interest in volunteer activities, Yury Leskin, chairman of the region's Committee for Youth Policy, said at the Rostov-on-Don City Press Center.
The committee's specialists came to this conclusion after several social surveys and studies.
According to the results, most people interested in volunteer activities are people aged 14-20, school and university students.
About 10 percent of the young people living in the region are already involved in the volunteer movement, and about 60 percent of the respondents would like to give it a try.
"Of course, young people are mostly interested in major events such as the 2018 FIFA World Cup or the Olympic Games, but also in the environment, helping seniors, taking care of stray animals, and searching for missing people. All of these are socially important projects," Leskin said.
He also added that the received data show that it is possible to get more people involved in volunteer work, which means that many more problems can be solved.
