The number of requests for Sochi flights has drastically gone up after the Russian national team defeated Spain in the round of 16, according to Director General of the 2018 World Cup Transport Directorate Kirill Polyakov, who spoke at the Rostov-on-Don City Press Center.
On July 7 in Sochi, the Russian national team will play against Croatia in the quarterfinals.
"We have received a huge number of requests for Sochi plane tickets and are now trying to increase the number of passenger seats on this route. Based on the Sochi Airport capacity, we are trying to use the larger planes to fly to Sochi," Polyakov said.
Polyakov did not specify how many requests for flights to Sochi had been received after the victory, but he pointed out that "the demand is huge."
