More than 260,000 mobile-content subscribers have watched five World Cup games at Rostov Arena, Minister of IT and Communications of the Rostov Region German Lopatkin told journalists during a news conference at the City Press Center.
"Over 260,000 mobile-content subscribers have watched five World Cup games at the stadium, uploading and sending 19 terabytes of mobile traffic. One five-hour match accounts for an estimated 4.2-4.5 terabytes," Lopatkin said.
The fans mostly preferred the mobile network to Wi-Fi, he noted.
"Foreign subscribers mainly use this method. While scanning social network accounts, I did not notice any criticism directed against communications companies during the World Cup, and, judging by the volume of traffic streamed abroad, it appears that all networks functioned without a hitch," Lopatkin added.
