On August 5, Ekaterinburg will host the Europe — Asia marathon designed for 7,000 participants, the event's Director Andrei Utkin said at the City Press Center.
"The 2018 FIFA World Cup has given a serious boost to the development of sports events. The atmosphere was unbelievable. There were flags everywhere. It is nice that local residents supported us. I think it will become customary to support the city's sports events," Utkin noted.
Andrei Utkin said that there will be distances of 42, 21, 10 and three kilometers long. He added that the route is located both in the European and Asian parts of the continent.
According to Utkin, last year people from 324 cities in 17 countries attended the marathon.
In addition, the Europe — Asia bicycle race for 1,200 participants will be held on August 25, the race's Director Dmitry Chukreyev said.
"We will build on the 2018 FIFA World Cup experience. Personally, I attended several matches and saw how volunteers, security and medical services were organized. We will definitely build on this experience," Chukreyev remarked.
