Ekaterinburg to broadcast classical music after World Cup

From July 26 to August 17, within the framework of the Vienna Music Film Festival, Ekaterinburg will show its citizens and guests some of the best performances which took place at the Mariinsky Theater and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden as well as other places, said the office administrator of the honorary consul of Austria in Ekaterinburg Maria Zashlyapina at the local City Press Center.

"This festival will be held for the ninth time," she said. "We will be broadcasting some of the best performances from last year which took place on a whole range of famous stages around the world. After the 2018 FIFA World Cup, this will be a pleasant change for classical music fans."

Within the framework of the festival, the city will show one of the last performances by Dmitry Khvorostovsky together with Aida Garifullina, which took place at Grafenegg Castle, Austria.

She added that children and young people will see performances by singers Nelly Furtado and Alicia Keys, as well as the musical film Mama and Marius Petipa's version of the ballet Nutcracker staged at the Mariinsky Theater.
