FIFA and fans praise the work of volunteers at the 2018 World Cup

FIFA President Gianni Infantino thanked the volunteers at of the 2018 FIFA World Cup RussiaTM for their work at the tournament, Tatyana Gomzyakova, Head of the Volunteer Department at the Local Organizing Committee and member of the Organizing Committee of the Year of Volunteers in Russia, said at the Moscow City Press Center.

"We have received a great number of favorable reports on the work of volunteers. Several days ago, FIFA President Gianni Infantino put on the volunteer uniform and thanked our volunteers for their contribution to organizing and holding the tournament. He gave them top marks for their work," she said, adding that Chair of Russia 2018 Local Organizing Committee Arkady Dvorkovich and Director General of Russia 2018 Local Organizing Committee Alexei Sorokin also expressed their gratitude to the volunteers at the farewell ceremony at the Luzhniki Stadium.

The fans also praised the assistance the volunteers provided to them in the World Cup host cities. Tatyana Gomzyakova said the volunteers helped foreign and Russian visitors deal with arising problems and answered their questions.

"We can answer questions and we can also provide help. <…> Not just say how the fans can reach their destination, but accompany them there. In some cases we also helped them with accommodation. There were some problems with tickets and other issues. As for the assessment of our work, the volunteers did very well. They did excellently," she said.

Tatyana Gomzyakova said the volunteers also shared their views on the work of the Local Organizing Committee based on several criteria, such as services, the transport system in the host cities and volunteer management.

"We are analyzing the data for the Luzhniki Stadium yet, but we believe the mark will be 9 out of 10, which is very good," she said in conclusion.
