The 2018 FIFA World Cup has had a very positive impact on Russia's image in the world. Everybody could see the high standard of organization, as well as the hospitality and openness of the Russian people, Ezio Gamba, Olympic judo champion, chief coach of the Russian national judo team, said at the Ekaterinburg City Press Center.
"I was most impressed by the Russians' attitude towards foreigners and their willingness to help and support them," Mr. Gamba said.
He was also surprised to see a large number of women and children in the stands during the tournament.
"You could see many women and children in the photos of the stands. In Europe going to the stadium with children is not considered very safe, and there are special instructions on how to behave at the stadium with children. Still, managing large crowds can be very difficult, Gamba noted.
